Tens Train builds number bonds to 100 in multiples of ten. An engine pulls one carriage of tens (say 30) and the child taps the carriage that completes the target. Every carriage is a multiple of ten, so the pattern stays visible. Choose the total you are aiming for - 30, 50 or 100 - and switch on a "tens" hint ("3 tens and ? tens makes 10 tens") or a spoken stem sentence to support the link.
It develops Y2 derived-fact fluency: if the child knows that 3 and 7 make 10, then 30 and 70 make 100. Keeping every carriage in tens makes that transfer explicit, which is exactly the National Curriculum aim of deriving related facts to 100 from known bonds to 10.
