Part-Whole Pop turns the part-whole model into a balloon game. The whole sits at the top of a part-whole diagram with two empty parts below it. The child taps two balloons whose numbers add up to the whole - both pop, their numbers drop into the parts, and fresh balloons float in. Pick the whole you are working on (5, 10 or 20), and switch on a spoken stem sentence if you want it. Tap a wrong pair and the balloons simply bounce back, with no penalty.
It teaches part-whole relationships and the composition of numbers to 20, in line with Y1 and Y2 of the UK National Curriculum. Because most rounds have several correct answers (1 and 9, 2 and 8, 3 and 7 all make 10), it pushes children to discover the many ways to compose a number, which is where real bond fluency grows.
